Budget just got bumped up. Should keep design happy.

As talent fees climb with all final call potential expenses, the only way to level the field is to provide design for all those new people who have not had time to design their own URL. Would need to bring legal in to the site design budget set up, via contract fee agreement, but if the numbers are going to get out of hand for national and international, this might be one way to help local talent we like. I’ll just pay for it myself.

Current est. cost to get each site up is running around $1700. Start to finish, three weeks, give or take. Would then be able to get some more help in here for design. Add some new blood. I don’t mind covering expenses when they advance new local talent and help the in house work get done on time and on budget. Only on a contract by contract bases. Will sign off on each as it might warrant. J.P.

Print Ad & Video Shoot Site is up, however it’s rough & will be revised.

Already revised twice and my guess is it will be another time or two before the shoot is finished.

Starting to make final call selections. Production Bids are coming in. Rough as it is,

60D Strapped & Gripped. Ideal for hand held

I for one don’t like taking a bunch of equipment out of the home/studio. With this set up you just go. Don’t even need my monopod because the balance and feel allows me to have an extra hand and stay steady. Love this set up and am using it now. If you have not spent the time with grips and straps, give it a shot, you might just like it.

60D Gripped

Delays, Delays. Such is life. We hurry to wait, while another tech support issue pops up!

Been waiting on the new main body to get here so the back up shutter count stayed low. Just got it in yesterday and started shooting inventory. Still waiting on new Zeiss, which is slowing things up big time. Stand by one.

Having full image file size issues. Image will not fit the space provided. Attempting to make the image viewing space larger. No luck, going with 80% edited image size. May not look as nice but might fit. To small. Let’s try 90%. Sorry I am not able to get this set up so you can see the whole image or the true file size. Have several other images to load and running out of time. Should have them up, ASAP.

Shooting studio gear sale. More Images & new sales site to come.

Selling all used gear from the studio, as part of the production effort for a new used gear sales site we are working on. This new site will become a part of our event production work. The new site should be up by the time all images and video for each item has been done. We will be shooting every day for the next 3 weeks, with no delays, which may, and do, happen often.

Shooting all of the photography and video for every studio item we have up for sale. This will include all electronics, furniture, props, designer clothing, wardrobe closet, film & digital cameras, lenses, and accessories.

We may select a few models to feature each item with a focus on advancing casting reach.

New site event party will kick off the new site and assist with sales & Local buyer pickup. All staff, support, sponsors, buyers and models will be invited. We will be talking about the first film during the event.

Also selling the home/office/studio and moving soon to a new space. More images and details to follow. Images will be featured both here and on the new site, ASAP. Casting selections will not delay daily shoot schedule with the daily item count moved up to 15 items per 1/2 day, 10-2. 21 days.

Still need 2nd DP. & production assistant.

The Value of Manual Focus, in Live View Mode

What is missed by most is the value of Manual focus in live view mode. This is not only true for video, but also for photography, when there is very little motion. If you are shooting macro, portrait, or any shot that can be taken with a monopod or tripod, the live view mode makes manual focus easy and perfect.

REMEMBER YOUR MAGNIFY BUTTON. It is on the top right of the back of the 60D, it looks like a magnifying glass. ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND BOTH YOUR 5X and 10X MAGNIFY OPTION TO CHECK FOCUS.

THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE IN MANUAL MODE. THIS CAN NOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH. ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR VIDEO IMAGE MAYBE GOING UP ON THE BIG SCREEN AND FOCUS MUST BE LOCKED ON WHAT YOU WISH TO FEATURE IN EACH SHOT. THIS MAKES AF WORTHLESS with regard to DIGITAL CINE WORK.

Don’t forget to MOVE your focus box around with your control wheel on the back of your camera. The control wheel is on the outside edge of your set button. This is also explained in the video. This allows you to focus on the part of the shot you wish to feature the MOST. VERY IMPORTANT to practice with every shot and see the difference in the finished image or video frame.

What does matter is what you wish to feature in the shot and great bokeh. IT is the BOKEH that makes the truly beautiful shot. That magical BOKEH comes about from fast glass, that provides unique depth of field, DOF, and that glass is best found in MANUAL FOCUS, HIGH END PRO GLASS.

Focus Example Image…

Focus was placed on the lower front of the lens to feature the wood below.

Best explained in detail, during the last part of this video, starting at 2:57, under face detection mode, which looks like 2 eyes ; a nose, & a smile…

Canon 60D quick review video

You will notice two important aspects to the body that matter in video. The LCD monitor and the sound. We have been waiting for both to limit the extra costs for both on any other EOS body.

This allows more money where it matters, IN THE GLASS.
